HPCC AUSTRALIA TOUR 2011 – TEAM CHARTER

Mission
  • To identify Howick Pakuranga Cricket Club year Eight (8) cricketers to represent the club in Queensland to enhance their cricket and personal skills.
Purpose
  • Club commitment to identifying junior members who would benefit from a tour to Australia.
  • Enhancing junior members cricket skills for their future and the future of the club.
  • Demonstrating the clubs commitment to junior and club members.
  • Acknowledging the clubs commitment to junior and club members.

Background
  • HPCC vision to be a leader in sporting community.
  • Focus on development of junior player base.
  • Provide all players of all playing levels with appropriate opportunities.
  • Increased retention rate of junior players.
  • Provide opportunity for players of representative quality to be extended and challenged.
Dipak Patel & Nick Craig took a team to Australia in 1999 (older age group). This was very successful however an apparent lack of enthusiasm from following years parents etc has meant nothing since. Idea born by questions asked by HPCC Board (Roger Dunn). Bryan Young took on exploring the opportunity.
The vision is for this to be a ‘bi-annual’ tour that is on-going and starts a proud tradition for HPCC.

In September 2009 the "Aussie 2009" tour went ahead and strong relations with the Sunshine Coast area in Queensland were forged.  The baton was then passed to the "Aussie 2011" group who are now organising their tour for 2011 - they will go in April 2011 as opposed to September because of the Rugby World Cup.
