School Programmes

The HPCC Schools Programme is designed

- to introduce cricket as an active, healthy and positive recreation activity for children

- to present the Howick Pakuranga Cricket Club as an inclusive and contributing community entity

 - to support physical education programmes in local schools

The HPCC playing region contains 44 primary, intermediate and secondary schools. While some of the schools have very good sports programmes, many do not have the available resources to organise cricket or teach the basics of the game.

As such, the HPCC Schools Programme takes the game to those schools. It focuses on providing a structured programme of cricket coaching that encourages boys and girls to get active and take part in New Zealand's favorite summer game.

Fully qualified coaches from HPCC visit schools and undertake a programme that introduces cricket skills,  one-on-one coaching, fun activities, and games. For many of the children, this is their first chance to experience the game and it all it has to offer. The overall aim is to see these children getting active, developing a love of the game and becoming part of the HPCC community.
